Cancer

Here we are at the start of 2012. The trip we had planned for so long has been postponed for a year. Four weeks before we were due to leave, and a day after we booked our seats on The Ghan (Alice Springs to Darwin), Marilyn found a lump in her breast. In the haze of surgery, chemotherapy and (presently) radiotherapy that has followed, we have been reluctant to plan ahead too much. However, on the last day of our annual camping pilgrimage to Thurra River (far east Gippsland), we decided to start workshopping the things we would need if we were only there a night or 2. Then, last week, we re-booked our Ghan tickets which arrived in the mail a couple of days ago. And so the planning begins again. The boys and I start school over the next few days for a 6 month stretch before again we seek to embark on the trip of a lifetime.
